A weekend among many of them. Louis, Tom and Killian joined to spend time together. To make music. This time, its in the middle of Burgundy that they settled their equipment. An ephemeral studio, in the very center of an old stony home. That's exactly when they came up with the diptyque ”First Thing". At the crossroads of future dub, reggae and trip-hop, First Thing is filled with aerial and inspiring melodies, cleverly mixed with a steady bassline composition.

Un week end parmi tant d’autres, Louis, Tom et Killian se sont
retrouvés pour passer du temps. Et pour composer. Cette fois, c’est en
plein cœur du climat bourguignon qu’ils installent leur matériel. Un
studio éphémère, au centre du salon d’une vieille maison de pierres. Ils
reprennent les basiques.
Trois amis, des claviers, des guitares, un ordinateur. Un micro. Un feu
de cheminée. L’automne. Sumac Dub and The Maucals, qui n’en sont
pas à leur coup d'essai, composeront alors plusieurs titres. Deux d’entre eux sont sur le point de vous être révélés.
First Thing, titre éponyme du projet, est à écouter comme il a été peint: en éloge de la simplicité. Celle du choix d’être au même endroit, au même moment.
Lavender, le second, est un cri d’espoir, un appel à se retrouver toutes
et tous. Pour replacer l’entraide au centre des relations humaines, parfois faussées par le rapport aux nouvelles technologies.
Comme Sumac Dub and The Maucals, ces deux objets sonores sont
inextricablement mêlés. Ils forment un diptyque inclassable dont les mélodies planantes transportent par-dessus les bocages. Par dessus
les forêts. Et quand le savant mélange rythmique-basse vous aura
happé dans une marche assurée, vous arriverez sur le perron de cette
maison. Alors vous pourrez peut-être apercevoir, par la fenêtre, Sumac
Dub and The Maucals, qui vous invitent au plus près de leur histoire
commune. La musique.
